Chris Lee's Bio

Christopher Lee is the founder of Chris Lee Productions Inc., a multi-media content and management company involved in the production of motion pictures, television programming, internet content, animation, computer gaming, comic books, music videos and writer, director and acting clients. With a first look deal at Columbia Pictures, the company is based on the Sony Pictures Entertainment lot in Culver City, California.

Previously, Mr. Lee was the President of Motion Picture Production for Columbia Pictures as well as TriStar Pictures. Among the numerous Academy Award-winning films he is responsible for are: AS GOOD AS IT GETS, JERRY MAGUIRE and PHILADELPHIA. Mr. Lee also worked on MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING, STARSHIP TROOPERS, THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES, LEGENDS OF THE FALL, THE FISHER KING, THE BIG HIT, MADELINE, GODZILLA, THE MASK OF ZORRO, GO, STEPMOM, and THE PATRIOT.

Currently in production is the revolutionary computer generated animation feature, FINAL FANTASY. Produced with Square Pictures, FINAL FANTASY will be released by Columbia Pictures in the summer of 2001. On the television side, CLP's first series, HEAVY GEAR, debuts in January 2001. Among the projects under development at Columbia are a big screen version of SWAT, a comedy for Orlando Jones, the emotional drama STANDING ON THE MOON, the romantic comedy PROVIDENCE and the family film DANNY'S TOY. At New Line Cinema, projects include the action franchise, I, HITMAN, directing client Kaos will helm FULL CONTACT, and the company will produce the outrageous comedy MANCHILD. CLP will produce, and Kaos will direct both ECKS VS. SEVER at Warner Brothers and ECHO for Fox 2000. Also for Fox 2000, CLP will co-produce the thriller EIGHT BALL with The Firm. On the animation front, the company is developing HIGH SCORE for Walt Disney. At Fine Line, development is underway on the American version of the smash hit Japanese thriller, RING. Original internet content is being produced for Eruptor.Com, Atom Films, and Shockwave. Affiliated comic book company Dreamwave Productions continues to create innovative titles such as DARK MINDS, WARLANDS, and ECHO. And SuperMega Music Videos, which Mr. Lee founded with director Joseph Kahn, has produced hit MTV videos for BACKSTREET BOYS, ELTON JOHN, COURTNEY LOVE, DESTINY'S CHILD, JANET JACKSON, and SISQO among others.

In addition to being the first minority to break the color line and run a Hollywood studio, Christopher Lee has consistently been names one of A Magazine's Most Influential Asian Americans, is a member of the Committee of 100, a founder of the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE), and a board member of the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium. He has received the Justice in Action Award by the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the Visionary Award from East West Players, the Legacy Award from the Museum of Chinese in the Americas, and was named the Asian Business League of Southern California's Business Person of the Year. Originally from Hawaii, Mr. Lee holds a degree in Political Science from Yale University.
