Jeannie Park's Bio

Jeannie Park is an executive editor of In Style magazine and the highest-ranking Asian-American editor at Time Inc. Born and raised in Ohio, she graduated from Harvard in 1983 with a degree in biochemistry. After belatedly realizing that she cared much more about words than molecules, she started her journalism career as a proofreader and reporter for the Korea Herald in Seoul. She took a brief side tour in politics as the Asian-American constituency coordinator for the Mondale-Ferraro presidential campaign in California and as a press aide for a California assemblyman.

In 1985, she moved to New York to begin working as a reporter-researcher for Time magazine. While there, she wrote entertainment-related stories for various other publications, including The New York Times. She then moved to People magazine in 1989, where she worked as a writer and editor for three years. She spent several months in Sydney, Australia, as part of the People team that created test versions of the magazine's new Australian edition. In 1992, she joined Entertainment Weekly as senior editor of the magazine's television coverage and was promoted to assistant managing editor in 1995. In January 1999, she joined In Style. She has been a leader in diversity efforts at Time Inc.

Among her proudest accomplishments are serving as the founding president of the New York chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association, which is now the largest in the country. She also served as the organization's national secretary from 1991 to 1993 and has held numerous local and national board positions in- between. She is currently a facilitator for the organization's Executive Leadership Program. In 1997 she was awarded the chapter's Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 1998 was given the national organization's Special Recognition Award for her work and commitment.

She is also the proud mother of two children, who keep her busier than she every imagined possible!
